Hippie VanGogh (nuvocoke@gmail.com)

Somewhere over there Rainbow's playing a song...

He's always thinking of ways to be kind where everyone else can be kind right along.
I'll bet he rode in on a time machine that he built way back in the '60s...
Powered by the heat from that Summer Of Love...
I once heard a hippie sage of our age say, "That one summer just wasn't enough"...
(thank you, Maria...)

and I guess Rainbow heard her plea, because he brought along enough colors
to paint all the endless summers of love that a flower child could ever need...
and from his third floor studio, our very own hippie VanGogh re-arranges rainbows
into the portraits of Haight-Ashbury...

Like pastel alters to our dearest souls - lest we forget,
That's why God/Goddess sent us Rainbow, our hippie VanGogh.
Lest we forget, that's why God/Goddess sent us Rainbow, our hippie VanGogh

As a young man, he earned a masters degree in Haight Street philosophy.
The Beatles taught him "all you need is love" and to "give peace a chance"
while Krishna does his dance and the rest of the world that yearns to be free
learns how to believe...

He paints joy & hope & wisdom & truth so we can teach ourselves how to see
the faces and places that nurture our souls and the signs and designs
that expand our minds until we grasp for bliss and gasp at the amazing radiance
of all the parts becoming whole...

and I guess Rainbow knows his stuff, because Janis, Jerry, Chet, Jimmy,
Bob & the Fab Four all look real enough for a flower child to believe...
and from his third floor studio, our very own hippie VanGogh re-arranges rainbows
into the portraits of Haight-Ashbury...

Like pastel alters to our dearest souls - lest we forget,
That's why God/Goddess sent us Rainbow, our hippie VanGogh.
Lest we forget, that's why God/Goddess sent us Rainbow, our hippie VanGogh

Somewhere over there Rainbow's painting what's right,
in radiant light, over what's wrong.
